One of the hardest struggles for standup comics is getting a gig. Many people would think that it is making people laugh that’s the hardest. No, you just think that because you’re not funny. Getting a show and getting your foot in the door is hardest part. Have you ever noticed Shaquille O’Neal just showed up out of nowhere and was loved and famous? He had no trouble getting his foot through the door and getting face time. Have you noticed the size of his feet? They are a forced to be reckoned with. I have to squeeze my tiny foot through the door in order to some recognition, but for Shaq, I bet the door saw his feet and opened itself!
As a comedian, you’re self employed. You can’t complain that there are no jobs around to hire you, you just have to work on your delivery and your punchline. The most important thing to work on as a self-employed comedian is how you advertise. I’m not talking about Craigslist. You’re not looking for a drunk date and you’re not getting rid of your grandma’s old dresser from 1977. Through using social media as described in David Kravitz’s book, “How to Monetize Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, LinkedIn and Other Social Media,” you can increase your audience and income while you spend the rest of your time wondering who named this book for him and why that title is so long! “How To Make Money With Social Media.” Done!
I bought the book and read it for myself. This book is truer than apple pie, it really does change the way you use your social media outlets and helps you to become more productive. David Kravitz does an excellent job with his directions and steps on how to accomplish your goals through the use of social media.
